| ... but I am actually still alive. | | |
| Two suitcases are filled to the brim, desk and bookshelves are emptied
out, all to-do lists are ticked off, and I think I am ready. Last
drinks with friends and a few heart-warming phonecalls make leaving
easier and harder at the same time.
As I hurried through the city center today running some last-minute
errands, I realized once again that I will miss this place, and the people (minus the
grumpy waiters and shop-keepers).
BUT...
I am only about 30 hours and an ocean away from six months full of new
places (and old ones), new friends (and old ones), new opportunities, and a million
things to learn. This is something I have always wanted to do, and I am
almost there. In a few days, I'll be in the middle of another exciting
adventure.
In order to keep everyone updated properly, including regular photos
and password-free comments, I have decided to move blogs. I might be
back later, but in the meantime, you can keep reading about the trip that is my
life -- HERE.

| Thirty friends showed up to say goodbye. The weather at the Mill held up until the late afternoon, allowing for some fierce badminton matches, sunbathing, fruit-from-tree-stealing, barbecueing, a few songs, a good hearty game of sharades and even a speech! Who would have thought... When the weather turned bad, we piled into the living room for a second helping of leftover steaks and sausages, dessert, and some four-part harmony.
Saying goodbye was easier than expected, though I think maybe I might have shed a few tears when I said goodbye to my brother, who is off to the Army and whom I won't see before I take off.
The fantastic day was topped off with THE most spectacular sunset ever and a walk in the vineyards with Mom and Dad.
I didn't take a single picture, but I've got it all stored inside me.
Once again, I can't help but think what an incredibly blessed girl I am. | | |
| Paris was fantastique!
Celebrated Colin's birthday with an epic seafood dinner and a birthday
cupcake on the Sacré Coeur terrace, went on countless strolls through
the Cité in rain and sunshine (rain, mostly), had many a café crème and quite a few pains au chocolat, met Henri for a Perrier, were lectured on Mesopotamian art at the Louvre by Amy and on gothic architecture by Colin (I tell you, it is handy to have brainy friends), played Scrabble (I lost, always), told bedtime stories and thoroughly enjoyed each others company.
Photos don't seem to work - here's the online album.
I've just come back from a little retreat, and now I'm all fired up and
ready to leave - in a week! Before that, it's a lot of packing,
re-packing, buying last-minute gadgets, and the Bye Bye BBQ at the Mill
on Sunday.
I can't believe that next week around this time I will be en route to Boston.

| I'm back from a wonderful week of relaxation at the Mill. Family
(grandparents who constantly make me laugh, aunts who are most
interested in my (non-existent) love life, violin-playing little
cousins, parents who just always know what to say or do to make me smile, sister-plus-boyfriend and
brother as the icing on the cake), books, rain, card games, more rain,
excursions to fortresses, castles and churches, apricot-picking, some
more rain, wine tasting, and, well, even more rain.
But that didn't matter so much.
Tomorrow I am off for a looong weekend of galavanting through Paris with Amy and Colin.
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.
[Did I ever compain about heat? I would like to have it back, please.]
